As an unanticipated monsoon season ravaged different regions of our country, and forty days and forty nights flooded out other parts of this great nation not affiliated to rivers or streams, red, white and blue poly tarps, like Minutemen protecting property and life were spread out over decimated rooftops across this great land.
Tarps, like Minutemen who provided this country with a highly mobile, rapidly deployed force to respond immediately to threats, are a homeowners first line of defense when the security of their homes and the safety of their loved ones are threatened by gale force winds, hurricanes and flash flood downpours.
Just like first aid kits and extra water are recommended to be stored in cases of emergency, in preparation of severe weather, every home in every one of our fifty states should keep on hand at least one heavy duty tarps for the ultimate fast home outdoor protection.

Apart from having a face lift or spending thousands of dollars every five months on injectables to erase lines and wrinkles, there is nothing -yet- that can remove wrinkles from your neck and decoutage area. Yes, you can stick needles into your neck but Botox will not get rid of rings around the collar. There is nothing, not even exercise, that will restore lost collagen to a woman’s upper arms and thighs. And no matter how skinny she is, a woman cannot avoid having aging thighs jiggle like jello.
But there is a natural way for your body to avoid getting age spots and your skin feeling hard to the touch. Modern, contemporary women would never think of donning a parasol when going out in the sun, but centuries old southern belles understood the laws of aging. Drenching in sweat as we lie in the sun for hours at a time will always catch up. Just like a dried up prune, the sun harms especially Caucasian skin pigmentation quicker and more definitively than anything else can.
As a woman ages her skin loses not only collagen but moisture and a combination of menopause and the sun evaporates every last drop a woman’s skin so desperately wants to cling to. To understand better, run your hand along the parts of your body that are not regularly exposed to the sun (bikini wearers beware) then run your hand along those areas that are always exposed (not just your hands). The parts of your body that are always exposed will generally feel rough, even hard in spots. The parts that weren’t exposed to the rays of the sun over the decades will generally feel more soft and smooth.
If you still want to lie out and feel better for doing it, make it mandatory to use sunscreen. To protect against burning, according to a new Consumer Reports study the top four brands are also some of the least expensive. Up & Up Sport Continuous, which sells at Target for less than $10 for two 6-ounce containers, won top honors. The other three top brands were: Walgreens Sport Continuous; Banana Boat Sport Performance Continuous; and Aveeno Continuous Protection.
Most dermatologists would warn you not to walk outside the door unless you’re wearing a sunscreen with a number fifty or over. After spraying or spreading sunscreen all over my body and then having to smear myself again if I’ve gone into the water or stayed out too long and need to repeat coatings, and then my back still comes home burnt to a crisp, holding up a parasol doesn’t sound all that bad.

Unless you’re Hank Hill working for Stricklin Propane, more and more homeowners are choosing gas grills to cook their hamburgers and hot dogs on. But you don’t need to spend a fortune to get great-tasting meals. Nor do you need to sacrifice style. Most lower-priced models now come fully loaded and have at least some stainless-steel trim and other perks once found only on the priciest grills.
For all you first time buyers, here’s a quick breakdown on what you need to know before you go shopping for a basic grill. If whole chickens are regularly on the menu, look for a model with a rotisserie. But don’t invest in grills that come with elaborate side burners unless you have money to burn along with the chicken. Tests show they take longer to boil water than your stovetop and will ruin sauces as they become too hot to simmer sauces well.
Before leaving the house to go shop for a grill, stick a magnet in your purse or pocket. Stainless steel grills look all shiny in the store, but outside they discolor real fast. What you want to look for is a grill made from a cheaper grade of stainless. Where does the magnet come in? Magnets will usually stick to cheaper grades of stainless and that saves you wasting your money as well as your time. Unless you enjoy cleaning, stainless steel grills demand you regularly clean them to keep up their shine.
Another thing to check out while you’re still in the store is a grill’s center of gravity. You want your grill to be stable. Especially if you have young children or large pets. The more stable the grill, the safer it will be for everyone around it. Gently nudge the grill from several angles to see if it tips. Also pat down all its corners and edges to make sure nothing feels sharp. Grab hold of its handle. Your fingers and hands shouldn’t be too close to the lid or you could get burned.
When price and what to look for checks out to your satisfaction, you’re good to get grilling.

In terms of phone technology, where making a phone connection with another living entity is the only criteria you need a phone for, an iPhone is not what you’re in the market for. But if you’re the type of individual that can get excited about carrying a phone on your person that instantly will hook you up to everything you ever wanted to know about, then you are definitely a candidate for this latest advancement in human communication.
The thing about the iPhone is, it could care less about making a phone call. All it really wants to do is exploit your intellectual curiosity. And in that department it excels. For only an iPhone is able to take on applications that will develop and grow your knowledge on every kind of subject matter you could possibly think of. None of this is important, but for those who are predisposed to learning, the iPhone can quickly become your greatest teacher, mentor and guide.
If you are not familiar with what an app is – short for application – but you are old enough to remember going to see the first Toy Story movie, buying different apps is comparable to buying Leap Frog cartridges to help enrich young minds and facilitate learning reading, writing and arithmetic.
First you have to buy the Leap Frog standard learning system (iPhone) and then you have to keep on buying different programs (apps) to grow and develop your child’s grade level learning requirements. See? There’s nothing new under the sun. There’s just more age appropriate gadgets.
